Having scuba tanks on your back isn’t a requirement for exploring the underwater world. Many scuba divers have discovered the joy of mounting cylinders on their sides. Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options. Imagine exploring through wrecks without the bulk on your back. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. Sound interesting?
Sign up for the PADI Sidemount Diver Specialty course with us today!
Available Course Dates
You must be 15 years old as at enrolment.
You should have a minimum of PADI Open Water Diver Course or equivalent qualification from other recognized dive agencies. You may need to show proof of dive logs upon request.
What Will You Learn?
Along with learning about the many benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration while going through the manual, you will also learn the following skills during your confined water and open water scuba dives.
- Properly assemble and configure sidemount equipment
- Trim your weight system and sidemount gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water
- Manage gas by switching second stages as planned, if wearing two cylinders
- Respond correctly to potential problems while diving using sidemount equipment
You can also choose to read the PADI Sidemount & Tec Sidemount Manual. You only need to read chapter one before meeting with your instructor to review the key points. By studying ahead, you’ll be better prepared to start using your sidemount gear.
If technical diving interests you, chapters two and three of your manual apply to the Tec Sidemount Diver course.
