Basic Open Water Diver Course

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most internationally recognized scuba diving course and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle. Regardless of your age, ethnicity, fitness level, physical shape or language spoken, scuba diving is for anyone who is looking for an adrenaline rush and a fun, healthy lifestyle in the aquatic world.

 

This open water diver course requires no previous experience but you must be 10 years old or older to join in.

Course Prerequisites:

  • You must be 15 years old as at enrollment. Junior diver certification will be granted to divers age 10 to 14.

  • You should be able to comfortably swim 200m and tread water/float on water for 10 minutes. If you are a “Water Baby”, speak with us to see how we can make your learning easier.

Course Schedule

The Open Water Diver Course can be completed within one Sat or Sun plus one weekend. It consists of theory classes, pool trainings & an open water dive trip to either Malaysia (week end trip) or Singapore (2 day-trips during week end).

Knowlege Development

During your knowledge development session you will learn about how pressure and buoyancy affects a scuba diver, dive equipment introduction, hand signals and more to build your understanding of scuba diving. You may choose from the 3 convenient study options (listed in next column) to complete this module.

Confined Pool Session

Expand your understanding of scuba diving from classroom to actual skill practise. You will learn and practise mask clearing, emergency drill, learning to breathe comfortably underwater, buoyancy control and more!

Let's GO DIVING!

The final part will see you bringing what you had learnt during your knowledge development and confined pool session into real diving environment. Experience what a certified scuba diver feels under the watchful eyes of your PADI Instructor. Rest assure, everything will be fun!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any hidden charges not stated?

Absolutely no! We don’t like last minute negative surprises hence we won’t spring any on you too.

 

Am I able to request a room to myself?

Sure! We will do our best to make special arrangement for you subject to availability at the destination resort.

However, in most cases, there will be a surcharge if you are requesting for a room to yourself. Please check with us on the charges.

 

Do I need to sign up with a partner?

You don’t have to. We will arrange another diver embarking on the same course to be your buddy. In the unlikely event that you are the odd one out, your dive buddy will be your trusty Instructor or Divemaster.

 

Do I need to know how to swim?

Watermanship is needed to overcome scenarios that you may face while at sea. You don’t need to be a top athletics in swimming but basic skills and stamina are recommended. Don’t let this be a hurdle for you to start learning scuba diving! Speak with us on this.

 

How soon can I sign up for the course?

You are recommended to start as early as possible. You will need to go through a theory session prior to the confined pool hence the sooner you start, the earlier you can get into the water!

 

I am a vegetarian, will there be any food catered specially?

Rest assure that there are many options available for green lovers at the resort. Just let us know in advance so we can arrange the meals for you.

 

What is the student to instructor ratio?

We adhere to a 5 students to 1 instructor ratio. In the event that we have extra students, we will at our discretion increase another dive professional assisting the group.
